A Message from Karmit, Instructor for Mommy & Baby Yoga
"Shortly after giving birth to my daughter, I experienced post-partum blues. I joined a postnatal yoga class with my daughter when she was two months old to get back into shape and to find an activity that both of us could benefit from. Immediately after taking a class together, my post-partum blues began to subside and my mood improved. Moreover, my self-esteem as a first time mother improved and my daughter and I had the chance to get outdoors and breathe in fresh air. The fact that I had an activity planned a couple of times per week encouraged me to get out of the house, even in the worst snow day. My daughter also had the chance to interact with other baby’s, become stimulated by the music that was playing in the background and she often received baby massages from time to time.
Overall, it was a great opportunity for me to create and strengthen the bond between me and my new baby. It is for this reason that I am committed to cultivating a space for other mommies and their new born babies to connect and reinforce their relationship.
